Summary
This chapter book is an historical fiction novel, generally geared to readers 6 to 14 years old; it involves a mixture of actual history and the story of how we often make choices that affect those around us. Set in 1778 during the American Revolution, it describes how a shipload of pirates, serving as privateers for the American colonists, decide to "do a greater good" and save Christmas for the citizens of Savannah, Georgia. Led by intelligent officers, and guided by Angel, a pure white bottlenose dolphin, and Lucky, the ship's dog, set sail with two young pirate sailors and the rest of the crew of the American Dream on a series of adventures. Savannah fell to the British after Christmas on Dec. 29, 1778, and remained under their control until 1782. The young reader will identify with the characters and enjoy the involvement of the animals in bringing this historic story to life! Includes a glossary
